I believe every journey has a defining moment—a single opportunity that changes the course of a person's life. For me, that moment came in September 2022. Looking back today, I can confidently say that it was the turning point that transformed my career, reshaped my purpose and opened doors I never imagined possible.

My journey into technology began in August 2018 when I enrolled at The University of Eastern Africa, Baraton to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Networks and Communication Systems. Like many young students, I was fascinated by technology and eager to understand how digital systems connected the world. During my four years at Baraton, I built a strong technical foundation in networking, communication systems and information technology. Yet, despite enjoying the field, I still had not discovered the career that truly resonated with my passion.

I graduated in July 2022, hopeful and determined to build a meaningful career in technology. Two months later, I received what would become the greatest opportunity of my professional life— a CyberShujaa Scholarship in Cloud and Network Security.

Throughout the program, I had the privilege of learning under Dr. Paula, whose expertise and mentorship challenged me to think differently about security. Beyond the classroom, the CyberShujaa community became a family that believed in my potential and encouraged me to dream bigger than I ever had before.

The scholarship transformed my career direction. What began as curiosity quickly became purpose.

In November 2024, I joined Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) as a Systems Security Analyst. Joining one of Kenya's critical infrastructure organizations represented another defining chapter in my journey. It gave me the opportunity to apply my skills in protecting systems that support millions of Kenyans while deepening my experience in information security, cyber resilience, governance, risk management and enterprise security.

My pursuit of excellence did not end there. In May 2025, I enrolled for a Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics at The Co-operative University of Kenya, believing that cybersecurity professionals must remain lifelong learners in an ever-changing digital world.

As my career progressed, I realized that my purpose extended far beyond technical implementation. I wanted to build people as much as I wanted to secure systems.
